For the last month, on sporadic days, and around 8:00am, a local woodpecker has decided to use my tin chimney cap to drum up a mate.
It sounds like a small jackhammer, not the usual tapping sound like on wood, but more like a buzzing sound. Kind of like the sound you would get if you mute the bells on an old mechanical alarm clock when it’s ringing.
I think I’ll customize the chimney to get more of a tune out of that bird. Get it to sound more like a tambourine or something.
Better yet, I’ll get my sticks ready and try drum along nextime, see what he does.
